Transmuting Turmoil into Truth

P: Awakening from the ashes of a wholly conditioned life is an arduous task.  

MQ: It can be. Spiritual evolution is challenging, because ultimately we are fighting inertia. This is especially true if you are only now beginning to find out that the separate sense-of-self and the ego-mind have been your lifelong co-producers.

P: Why am I in constant flight from change?

MQ: Not you - only the ego-mind. Is not the surface of the ocean changeless in its relentless alterations? A great Oak grows tall, buds and flowers, blossoms, loses its leaves, falls over, sunders and decays. Are all of these movements not graceful, and without labels - only one? Is not transformation an endless flourish of creativeness - the lush inventiveness of emptiness?

P: Yet, conditioning continuously calls me to label endless change.

MQ: As endless or beginningless? When you express your thoughts as actions, are you not creating that which ultimately has never been? Are you not doing this daily, hourly, or by the minute? Even Buddha said, “It is with our thoughts that we create the world.” So, are these labels of ‘less’ or ‘more’ or ‘better’ or ‘worse’ ever the same?

P: Therefore, by acknowledging my interest in change, I can accept that a discomfort zone is a sign that I am ready to evolve?
